Stuart Mitson, Managing Director at Mitson Consulting Ltd, is a former public sector Prison Governor and private sector Prison Director with more than 25 years combined operational experience.  Also, as director of business projects with a leading operating company, Stuart worked on DCMF (design, construct, manage and finance) prison projects in the UK, Europe, North America and South Africa.

In 2005, he became an independent expert providing consultancy on prison design, regimes and operations.  He is a member of the parliamentary Prison Reform working group at the Centre for Social Justice and a member of the International Corrections and Prisons Association.

For the past three years, Stuart's consuming passion has been to complete the development of a new and unique concept in prison design - the first for nearly 200 years - which will bring an end  to 'human warehousing' and the failure of modern prisons to rehabilitate.
